The BMW X4 M boasts a coupe-like exterior design that contributes to its athletic appearance and feel, although being slightly larger than a traditional coupe. I adore the rear spoiler and the 21-inch V-spoke wheels on our test vehicle. The base model comes with 20-inch wheels, which, based on web photographs, also appear to be quite nice.
Slightly more controversial is the appearance of the car's front end, although I also like like it. I'm accustomed to the wider grilles on BMW's more recent vehicles, and the kidney grilles on the X4 M are somewhat smaller than those on the i4. These grilles are paired with a variety of air vents and side grilles, and while it can appear a bit cluttered at times, I don't think it's in a negative sense. The headlamps are also thin and menacing, which serves to balance out the bottom grille's cheerful design.
The rear is decidedly less busy, featuring another set of slim-looking lights and quad exhaust tips.

If you have previously entered a recent BMW, you will immediately know the BMW X4 M's interior. That's not a negative thing; I actually enjoy the interior of modern BMWs, including the large and brilliant display, the fine stitched leather, and the tactile controls layout. The inside is also fairly comfy, with 14-way power-adjustable front seats that make it simple to find the ideal position.
In general, I find the controls in the BMW X4 M to be user-friendly and intuitive, especially when it comes to climate and audio settings. There will be three climatic zones, allowing passengers to adjust their own settings.
Comparing the X4 to the X3, for instance, rear passenger capacity is diminished. This is largely due to the sloping roofline. Now, although there is less space, I still find the X4 to be spacious enough for most scenarios. I had a couple inches of clearance in the back seat despite being 5 feet 11 inches tall.
Two adults or three children can fit comfortably in the rear of the X4 M.
The sloping roof also affects the trunk capacity, and a bit extra trunk space would have been welcome.
Nevertheless, 18.5 cu. ft. is sufficient for the majority of day-to-day needs. Compared to the X3 M's 28.7 cu. ft. of cargo space, it's evident that the X3 is the better option if you're looking for a vehicle with ample space.

The 2022 BMW X4 M utilizes the BMW iDrive 7 platform, which is...satisfactory. BMW now provides iDrive 8, but iDrive 8 is mostly found on its electrified vehicles for the time being. In general, iDrive 7 is not terrible. It provides customization options for the home screen, allowing you to modify the information displayed. And I found the touch controls to be responsive.
You are not required to interact with iDrive 7 in any way. CarPlay and Android Auto are supported via a wireless connection. On the day I bought the car, I had difficulty connecting my phone via Bluetooth and spent approximately 30 minutes attempting to do so. The following day, for some reason, it worked on the first attempt, and I had no further connectivity troubles.

The BMW X4 M is attractive and easy to use. But performance is the reason to purchase this car with this level. And the BMW X4 M Competition performs quite well. The vehicle's 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged i6 engine produces an astonishing 503 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 60 mph will be reached in an astounding 3.6 seconds. I found the eight-speed transmission to be swift and smooth in general.
However, driving the car is not without its flaws. Regardless of the driving mode selected, the vehicle's suspension is excessively firm. This suspension may be necessary for a vehicle with a heavy roof, but it has a negative influence on regular driving.
Thankfully, there are numerous driving modes that you can select between according on your preferences, and as with any M vehicle, the customization options are rather extensive.
